Time for a new shed!

Landscaping around your shed is one way of making it a focal or accent point of your backyard.  If you have an old, beat up shed, consider painting it to

Landscape your shed with small shrubs

freshen it up.  If it’s an old  T1-11 wood shed, you might need to replace it altogether.  Many times replacing your old wooden shed with a new one is more economical than having it repaired.  You can start by viewing attractive garden sheds for sale on our website.

To create a focal point, landscape with small shrubs or trees, perhaps of the dwarf variety so that you don’t have to spend a lot of time pruning each year.  You also don’t want to plant something that will grow too big or too close to your shed so that it does not do any damage to your siding or shingles.  Changes are that you have a stone pad as a foundation.  Remember that plants should not be set too close to your shed, so be sure to plant your shrubs on the outer area of your stone pad.

Grassy perennials create an interesting focal point when landscapring around your shed.

A variety of dwarf shrubs can create a year-round focal point, with a few flowering perennials or annuals between – depending on how much upkeep or maintenance you like to do.

Don’t forget your entryway into the shed.  Yes, you most likely have a ramp.  But a nice walkway of pavers or flagstone – perhaps even a mossy brick path, can add a bit of charm to your shed landscape as well.

And lastly, don’t neglect the flowerboxes, if any.  A splash of color with seasonal annuals, perhaps with some trailing ivy, creates a welcoming view from any angle of your yard or deck.  For those that don’t have a green thumb, you can always choose some realistic faux flowers (that’s “fake” fellas).

Either way, the point is that your shed creates an investment in your property.  Properly landscaping around your shed will make it a part of your yard and perhaps a welcoming respite from the day’s work.  Who knows, you might like it so much that you will decide to turn your shed into your backyard Garden Office.
